Funeral services of Hilda Agnes Bowie, 84 of 823 E. 10th St. S. will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mike Johnson, pastor of the Christian Church in Kellogg officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. today at the funeral home family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial to the Izaak Walton League will be accepted.

Mrs. Bowie died of complications of a stroke, Saturday, August 15 at Skiff Medical Center. The daughter of William Henry and Amanda Dora Schmidt Schumann, she was born September 29, 1913 in rural Newton. She attended Newton High School. She married Martin H. Bowie October 4, 1930 in Princeton, MO. A resident of Newton since 1950, Mrs. Bowie was employed by Winpower as a supervisor of the armature department for 33 years before retiring in 1976. She also worked as a farmer. She was a member of the Izaak Walton league, Jasper County Farm Bureau and Moose Lodge No. 923.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Howard W. of Des Moines, Roger of Riverside, CA, John of Runnells and Thomas of Newton; three daughters, Inez Mortley of Oklahoma City, OK, Vivian McCurry of Knoxville and Judy Blom of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; a brother, Carl Schumann of Newton; and two sisters, Gladys Jackson of Slymar, CA and Velma Oliver of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and a sister.
