Hazel Russell Dies Today; Services Monday

Mrs. Oren (Hazel) Russell, 80, of 315 N. 4th Ave. E., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died this morning at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. B. L. Payne, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Survivors are two sons, Francis R. and Wayne E., both of Newton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Ware and Vern Ware, both of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Della) Cox of Newton, Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Highley of Colfax and Mrs. Basil (Betty) Swaim of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1950 and a brother, James Ware.

Mrs. Russell had worked in the Skiff Memorial Hospital kitchen for 18 years.

The daughter of Joshua and Aurilla Pitcock Ware, she was born April 20, 1907 at Colfax and attended Liberty School near Colfax. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 17 Mar 1978.
