Former Resident Dies on Thursday

Chester Simmons of Glenwood, a former resident of Newton, died Thursday evening at the Council Bluffs Hospital.

Funeral services, which are pending, will be held in Glenwood. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 17 Mar 1978.

Chester Simmons, Former Newton Employee, Dies

Funeral services for Chester E. Simmons Sr. of Glenwood, a former employee of Winpower Manufacturing Co, of Newton, were held recently at the Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home. Burial awa sin the Glenwood Cemetery.

He died recently at the Council Bluffs hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Wilda; two sons; Chester Jr. of Glenwood and Donald V. of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Elmer of Hot Springs, Ark., and Morris of Albuquerque, N.M.

The son of Samuel H. and Avis Phipps Simmons, he was born Aug 18, 1901 t Liberal, Mo.

He was married to Wilda Barnes Sept. 16, 1922 at Sidney. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 31 Mar 1978.
