Irene Fowler, 79, Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Fowler, 79, a resident of the Jasper County Care Facility southeast of Newton, died Wednesday evening at the Care Facility.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Friday.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Fincher of Tama and Mrs. Lawrence (Elsie) Kaldenberg of North Platte, Neb., five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Jack Greenslade of Adel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in February, 1977, and a son, Sammy, in October, 1976.

Mrs. Fowler was a member of the Pocahontas, VFW Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and Pythian Sisters.

She assisted with the lunch program in the Newton schools for several years.

The daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Julia Luyster, she was born April 12, 1`898 in Pleasantville.

A longtime resident of Jasper County, she was married June 18, 1925 in Indianola. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 16 Mar 1978.
