Maurine L'Leary Dies Saturday; Services Today

Funeral services for A. Maurine O'Leary, 73, of 422 W. 4th St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton were held today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Stan Wierson, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

She died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Memorial contributions to the Cancer Society wil be accepted.

Survivors are a brother, John, of Cedar Falls and four cousins, Mrs. Harold Forsyth, Mrs. Clarence Crawford, Virgil O'Leary and John Healy , all of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Miss O'Leary was a member of the First United Methodist Church, AO Chapter of PEO Sisterhood, Newton Chapter No. 100 Order of Eastern Star, Nazarath White Shrine and Soroptimist club.

Miss O'Leary was past president of the AO-PEO, past worthy high priestess of the Nazarath White Shrine and past president of the Soroptimist Club.

She had been an employee of the Iowa Southern Utilities Co. for 46 years, retiring in 1970.

The daughter of John and Grace Cooper O'Leary, she was born Mar. 6 1905 in Newton, was graduated from Newton Community High School and attended the University of Iowa at Iowa City. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 13 Mar 1978.
