John Ask, Former Area Teacher, Dies

MONROE - John F. Ask, 55, a former teacher and coach in the Monroe Community Schools, died Saturday at Iowa City.

Mr. Ask coached and taught from 1947 through 1949 at Monroe. He taught commercial subjects and coached boys' track.

His wife, LaOra, also taught and coached in Monroe for Two Years.

Mr. Ask retired in 1974 after coaching for 25 years at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.

A native of Ottumwa, he was a basketball and baseball player and trackman at William Penn College in Oskaloosa from which he was graduated in 1946.

Mr. Ask was a member of the Iowa Track Hall of Fame. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 13 Mar 1978.
