PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Elsmer Walker, 72, of Prairie City will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, south of Prairie City.

The Rev. Oren Reger, pastor of the church, & Elder Arthur Nichols of Knoxville will conduct services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cem. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Leo; two sons, Duane Walker of Reasnor & Herbert Buck Walker of Prairie City; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Coleen) Keuning of Prairie City & Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Hart of Newton; 14 grandchildren; & four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Glen Walker of Altoona & Hubert Walker of Des Moines; & four sisters, Mrs. Wilfred (Juanita) Shoemake & Mrs. Lewis (Grace) Dammeier, both of Newton, Mrs. Maurice (Aletha) Woody of Newton & Mrs. Leonard (Elvertta) Prindle of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents & a brother.

Mr. Walker, a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, was manager of the Percy softball team for many years.

He had farmed & worked for the Prairie City Concrete Co..

The son of Murry & Leona Mae Hitchler Walker, he was born July 13, 1095 in Jasper County. He was married to Leo Wilson Feb. 10, 1925 in Prairie City.

He died Wednesday at his home in Prairie City ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 3 Feb 1978.
