Blanche Russell Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Samuel C. (Blanche) Russell, 90, of 906 1st Ave. W., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Thursday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

Survivors are a son, Richard Russell of Newton, a stepson, Francis G. Russell of newton; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1966, a son in infancy, three brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Russell was a member of the United Presbyterian church and the Golden Age Club.

The daughter of Gerard and Sarah Wagoner Carrier, she was born Aug. 31, 1887 in Newton and attended Newton schools.

She was married Feb. 12, 1920 in Newton. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 3 Feb 1978.
