Mrs. Goforth, 62, Dies on Weekend

Mrs. Frank Goforth, who lived in Newton nearly all her life, died Saturday night at Skiff Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at Morgan Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goforth, who was 62, was born Nov. 24, 1887, at Eldon, Iowa.

Her father, Amos Bowie, celebrated his ninety eighth birthday last Saturday.

Mrs. Goforth, is also survived by her husband, Frank, 507 West Seventh street North; one son, Cecil of Newton; and five daughters, Mrs. Mozelle Trigg, St. Louis; Mrs. Lela Winchell, Newton; Mrs. Ruth Fried, Moline, Mrs. Betty Otterness, Colona, Ill., and Marion Goforth of Des Moines.

Rev. James P. Massey, pastor of the Free Methodist church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Leland Bowie, Harold Bowie, Theodore Bowie, Howard Bowie, Elmer DeBryun and Lawrence DeBryun. Music will be “The Old Rugged Cross” and Rock of Ages” sung by Marion Wells accompanied by Mrs. Lois Stanton, organist. ~ The Newton Daily News, June 5, 1950, page 1.
