Veda Eden, 80, Dies Today; Rites Monday
Mrs. Oscar A. (Veda) Eden, 80, of Embassy Manor Care Center, a longtime resident of Newton, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Gregory Caldwell, associate pastor of the First United Methodist church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church Missions will be accepted.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Survivors are her husband of Embassy Manor Care Center; a son, Robert A. of Elmwood Park, Ill.; two daughters, Bette K. Soltis of New York, N.Y., and Mrs. Herbert (Mildred) Canty of Grayslake, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.
Mrs. Eden was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Newton Woman’s Club, Rebekah Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
The daughter of Abraham and Carrie Routh, she was born Dec. 26, 1895 in Lorimore.
She was married Aug. 23, 1915 at Creston
