Bud Herwehe, 66, of Newton died Thursday, Oct. 30, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at Silent City Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Bud Herwehe Memorial Fund.

The son of Earl Floyd and Sarah Elizabeth (Brewer) Herwehe, he was born May 9, 1937, in rural Jasper County. He served in the United States Army. On June 27, 1978, he married Maureen "Renie" Moore in Clarinda. He lived in Jasper County his entire life and farmed in the Reasnor area, and drove a truck for 36 years and worked for Maytag for 11 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Grinnell and the Monroe American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, June Barcus and Judy and Gordon Dodds, all of Newton, and Joy and Johnny Savage of Mingo; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

SERVICES HELD
Services for Bud Herwehe were held Monday, November 3, at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Pastor Merle Smith, Skiff Medical Center Chaplain, officiated the services. Burial with full military rites were at Silent City Cemetery.

Buddy LeRoy Herwehe was born on May 9, 1937, in rural Jasper County, the son of Earl Floyd and Sarah Elizabeth (Brewer) Herwehe. Bud served in the United States Army. On June 27, 1978, he was united in marriage to Maureen “Renie” Moore in Clarinda, Iowa. Bud lived in Jasper County his entire life. He farmed in the Reasnor area, as well as driving a truck for 36 years and Maytag for eleven years. Bud was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Grinnell and the Monroe American Legion.
Bud is survived by his wife, Renie in Newton; three sisters, June Barcus of Newton, Judy Dodds and her husband Gordon of Newton and Joy Savage and her husband Johnny of Mingo as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
