Marie De Graff Dies Saturday; Services Today

PRAIRIE CITY -- Mrs. Ed (Marie) De Graff, 82, of Prairie City died Saturday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

The Rev. Daniel Ramaker, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Russell Farrell of Knoxville will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions to a fund set up in Mrs. De Graff's name will be accepted. They may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Dale of Prairie City and Marion of Runnells; two daughters, Mrs. Byrl (Bernice) Dodd of Reinbeck and Mrs. Wayne (Marilyn) Northway of Runnells; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Vriezelaar of Otley, Mrs. Sadie Hiemstra of Prairie City, Mrs. Delphia Rovaart of Des Moines and Mrs. Jeanette Wooddell of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948, her parents, a son, Harold, a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. De Graff was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Adelphi.

The daughter of John and Mattie De Reus Van Bentum, she was born June 17, 1895 in Lacey.

She was married Feb. 24, 1916 at Prairie City. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 13 Feb 1978.
