Clifford Harrington Dies Sunday; Rites Set for Wednesday

L. Clifford Harrington, 86, of 812 N. 3rd Ave. W., a resident of Newton for 52 years, died Sunday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

Dr. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Survivors are his wife, Gertrude; two sons, Leo C. and Charles R., both of Newton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. E. A. (Grace) Roberts of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister.

Mr. Harrington, a retired postal carrier, was a 55-year member of the Mount Ayr Masonic Lodge.

The son of Francis M. and Clara Foreman Harrington, he was born Jan. 2, 1892 at Lamoni and attended Lamoni schools.

He was married to Gertrude Combs June 13, 1916 at Chariton. ~ The newspaper unknown, but possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 1 May 1978.
