Clarence E. Wood Dies on Friday; Services Today
Funeral services for Clarence E. Wood, 84, of 504 1st St. N., a resident of Newton since 1929, were held today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. B. L. Payne, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church conducted services.
Burial as in the Newton Union Cemetery.
He died Friday afternoon at the Embassy Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors are two sons, Donald of Cookson, Okla., and Paul of Dallas, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Romaine (Evelyn) Castor of Newton and Mrs. Charles (Lorene) Gile of Melrose; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Laura, in November, 1972.
Mr. Wood was a retired Automatic Washing Machine Co. employee.
The son of John and Minnie Baxter Wood, he was born Dec. 11, 1893 at Alton, Ill.
He was married to Laura Christopher Aug. 21, 1913 at Tingley. ~ Newspaper unknown, but possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 1 May 1978.
