Ernest Hellyer Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday

Ernest D. Hellyer, 76, of 412 E. 3rd St. S., a resident of Newton since 1945, died Thursday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

The Rev. David Rex, pastor of the Newton Church of God, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel until time of services.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel; a son, Eudean Hellyer of Newton; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Nettie) Davis of Corydon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Hellyer, a construction worker and farm laborer, served in the Army during World war II.

The son of Robert and Margaret Hellyer, he was born April 19, 1901 in Bethlehem and was educated in Bethlehem schools.

He was married to Hazel Sipes Dec. 24, 1925 at Corydon. ~ Newspaper Unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 10 Feb 1978.
