Ethel I. Gould Dies Tueday; Services Friday

Mrs. Thomas (Ethel I.) Gould, 91, of 203 E. 5th St. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Tuesday afternoon at the Hunter Addition of Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services.

Memorial contributions to the Jasper County Nurses Association will be accepted.

Survivors are a grandson, Edward G. Winger of Des Moines; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Frank Winger, in 1947; her second husband, T. H. Gould in 1959; a son, Lawrence Winger, in 1949; seven sisters; and two brothers.

Mrs. Gould was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Jasper County Nurses Association, of which she was the oldest living member, and the Salvation Army Golden Agers.

Mrs. Gould, a nurse at the Maytag Co., did special nursing for mnay years at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of John and Sarah Spearing, she was born Nov. 15, 1886 at Newton, attended Newton Community Schools and took her nurse's training in Davenport.

She was married to Frank winger in 1927and to Thomas Gould in 1945. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 1 Feb 1978.
