Timothy D. Downs, 22, of Sacramento, Calif., died June 27 in a car accident in California.
He was born in Centerville on Oct. 14, 1959, the son of Joe and Margaret Faris Downs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville. He served in the U.S. Army and had lived in Sacramento for the past three months.
Survivors include one brother, Brad Downs of the U.S. Navy; one sister, Lecia Downs of Newton; one step-sister, Terry Stevens of Centerville; his mother and step-father, Harold and Margaret Moore of Newton; his father, Joe Downs of California; and grandparents, Kathleen Downs of California & Lula Faris of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bart Downs and Arthur Faris.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Centerville with Dr. Douglas Oelke officiating.
Burial with military rites will be in the Oak View Cemetery in Albia. Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville is in charge of arrangements.
