Walter Hickman Dies in Hospital; Services Tuesday

Walter Hickman, 74, of Rt. 2, Newton, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Saturday morning in Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Marvin Suhr, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Gladys, a brother, Earl Hickman of Newton, and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Bulfer of Laurel and Mrs. Don (Mae) Bishop of Faribault, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Smith.

The son of Harvey and Jemima Green Hickman, he was born July 4, 1894, on the farm on which he lived most of his life.

Walter Hickman Rites Conducted

Funeral services for Walter Hickman, 74, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, were held today in Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Marvin Suhr, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Ron Toppenberg was the organist.

Pallbearers were Carl Bunse, Walter Druyff, Dan Jensen, Eddie Miller, Kenneth Schnell and Leo Toedt.

Mrs. Virgil Bair, Mrs. Earl Curry, Mrs. Dan Jensen and Mrs. Kenneth Schnell were in charge of flowers.
