PRAIRIE CITY - Kenneth E. Peery, 73, of Prairie City died of renal failure Wednesday, July 2, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Pastor Alvern Kinrade officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or the Moose Lodge of Newton and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Henry P. and Grace (Tool) Peery, he was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Newton. He was a 1948 graduate of Newton Senior High School. He served in the United States Army and was a farmer and mechanic. Mr. Peery was a member of the Moose Lodge of Newton, Newton American Legion and Galesburg Christian Church.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pearl Peery of Monroe; a sister, Edith (Peery) Slegh of Prairie City; two nephews and spouses and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

SERVICES HELD

Services for Kenneth F. Peery of Prairie City were held Saturday, July 5, 2003, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Pastor Alvern Kinrade officiated the services. Burial was in Palo Alto Cemetery in Rural Newton.
Born December 24, 1929, in Newton, Kenneth was the son of Henry P. and Grace (Tool) Peery. He was a 1948 graduate of Newton High School. Kenneth was a farmer and mechanic. He had been in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Newton, Newton American Legion, and Galesburg Christian Church.
Survivors are one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pearl Peery of Monroe, one sister, Edith (Peery) Slegh of Prairie City; 2 nephews and spouses, Darrell and Patti Peery of Monroe and Larry and Wendy Slegh of Grimes, and 1 niece, Carol Slegh of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
