Burial Service At the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa - At A Later Date.

Memorial Service At the First United Methodist Church, 210 N. 2nd Ave. E. in Newton. A Masonic Service will also be a part of the Memorial Service Saturday, August 29th, 2015 10:30am

Visitation Service The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service with a lunch at the church Saturday, August 29th, 2015

Those left to honor Veryl's memory are his wife, Ilene of Newton; children: Debra S. Jeffery of Kansas City, Kansas, Desiree L. (Larry) Dole of Revere, Missouri, Dareena L. (Dennis) Odem of Omaha, Nebraska, and Duane D. (Pamela) Brass of Hampton; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and his siblings: Gene Brass of Hampton, Francis (Linda) Brass of Dows, Janice (Arden) Terfehn of Austinville, James (Chan-elen) Brass of Goldfield, and Ilene (Kenneth) Hanson of Waukon.

He was prececed in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Brass.

Veryl served his country in the U. S. Army from July of 1953 to June of 1955.

Veryl was a graduate of Hansell High School.

Veryl worked for the Iowa Department of Soil Conservation Service for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He had also worked for Davies Manufacturing in Hampton for 12 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, Past Master of Newton Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M., Past High Priest of Gebal Chapter #12 Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master – Malachi Council #55 Royal & Select Masters, Past Eminent Commander – Oriental Commandery #22 Knights Templar and a member – Charles Clyde Hunt Priory #42 KYCH.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or to the First United Methodist Church Choir. Memorials may be left at the church on the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home, 1115 E. 19th St. N., Newton, IA 50208; please add, Attn: Brass Family on the envelope. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 12 Aug 2015.
