Robert F. Janssen, son of Bernard and Nellie (Garrelts) Janssen, was born April 16, 1925 in Great Oak Township, Iowa. He attended country school and Ayrshire Consolidated School. Following high school, Robert began farming.
On December 5, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marie Martha Rebhuhn in Ayrshire, Iowa. To this union four children were born.
