Marvin Cooper Services Will Be Held Friday

ROCK CREEK – Funeral services for Marvin Cooper, 67, of Rt. 2, Kellogg, a resident of Rock Creek Township since 1930, will be held at 1:30 o'clock Friday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Russell K. Boersma, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, and the Rev. J. Lester Williams of Eldora, former pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Bessie; a son, Charles W. of Grinnell; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Mary) Long and Mrs. Dwight (Betty) Niday, both of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ralph E. Cooper June 29, 1961; a grandson, Richard L. Long Oct. 27, 1968; and two brothers in infancy.

Mr. Cooper, who farmed in the Rock Creek community also owned and operated the Cooper Auto Salvage since 1962.

The son of William and Celia Cooper Cooper, he was born Jan. 25, near Monticello, Ky., and attended Kentucky schools.

He was married to Bessie Jane Dick Nov. 21, 1927 in Huntsville, Tenn.

They moved to Grinnell in 1930, to the Rock Creek community in 1935 and to their present farm in 1939.

He died Tuesday evening at his home. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 3 Feb 1977.
