Claire Jackson Former Jasper Resident, Dies
ROCK CREEK – Funeral services for Claire A. Jackson, 76, of Grinnell, a resident of Rock Creek Township in Jasper County from 1932 until 1965, were held today at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to a fund set up in Mr. Jackson's name, will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.
Survivors are his wife, Myrl; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Wilson of Sioux City and Mrs. Clifford (Frances) Sears and Mrs. Duane (Jacquline) Swatosh, both of Liberty, Mo.; four grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Jackson, a 50-year member of the Victor Grange, was a member of the Hermon Masonic Lodge, Easter Star and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines and had been active in the Pomona Grange and Iowa State Grange.
He was a former Maytag Co. employee.
The son of William and Minnie Groover Jackson, he was born Aug. 23, 1901 at Washington, Iowa, attended rural Rock Creek Township schools and Grinnell High School.
He was married to Myrl Glaspey April 21, 1932 in Montezuma. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 12 Sept 1977.
