Alberta Birkenholtz, age 88 of Prairie City, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Vandalia Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The daughter of Clarence C. and Maude (Williams) Gulling, Alberta was born on December 2, 1926, in Vandalia. On December 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Floyd V. Birkenholtz in Monroe.

A lifelong resident of the area, Alberta was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, playing the piano and riding the mower.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Donna Birkenholtz of Prairie City and Duane Birkenholtz also of Prairie City; four grandchildren, Alan, Brad, Jesse, and Emily; four great grandchildren, Tate, Lily, Keegan, and Riley and a very special friend, Carl Mott of Runnells.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1999 and a sister, Harriet Harmison. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 18 Jul 2015.
