Carrie Parmley Former Jasper Resident, Dies

KELLOGG – Mrs. Olen (Carrie) Parmley, 92, of Grinnell, who formerly resided for many years east of Kellogg, died Monday evening at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Survivors are two sons, Wendell “Pearly” Parmley of Ladysmith, Wis., and Hollis H. Parmley of rural Grinnell; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandchildren and two sisters.

Mrs. Parmley was a former rural Jasper County teacher.

The daughter of Edwin and Lena Blythe, she was born Mar. 1, 1885 in Scott County, attended Kellogg school and normal school in Newton.

She was married to Olen Parmley Nov. 25, 1903 at Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 1 June 1977.
