Jaunita Joan Gilbert

Jaunita Joan Evans Gilbert, 76, 1605 N. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1942, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Skiff Medical Center after suffering a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Baptist Church.

The Rev. Kevin Bauder of Dallas, Texas, and the Rev. Bernie Payne of Ankeny will conduct services.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 8 a.m. Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Immanuel Baptist Church may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Johnny Paul and his wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three daughters, Harriett Joan (Mrs. Lawrence) Bogaards of Oskaloosa, Ella Mae (Mrs. Robert) Terlouw of Kellogg and Olga Doris (Mrs. John) Potter of Newton; nine grandchildren; two brothers, George Wayne Evans of Newton and Frederick Conrad Evans of Texas; and a sister, Mrs. Rachel Hay Davis of Russell; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry, Nov. 8, 1988 and a sister, Edna Galuska.

Mrs. Gilbert was a member of the First Baptist Church, RSVP and Senior Saints at the Immanuel Baptist Church.

The daughter of John Well and Rosyan Ida Hay Evans, she was born Nov. 10, 1914 in Clear Creek Township in Jasper County.

She was married to Harry Francis Gilbert Dec. 6, 1933 in Grinnell.

She also had resided in Grinnell. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thur 10 Jan 1991.
