PELLA – Sarah Witzenburg Menninga, 86, of Pella, a lifelong resident of the Otley and Pella communites, died Tuesday, May 14, at the home of her daughter in Pella.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pella First Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. J. Mark Beach, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Today at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home.

Memorials to Hospice of Pella will be accepted.

Survivors are a son, Andrew of Leighton; a daughter, Laurine (Mrs. Bill) Van Maanen of Pella; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Menninga was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Yella Z. Jan 4, 1978, a son, Cecil, and nine brothers and sisters.

She was a member of the Pella First Christian Reformed Church.

A homemaker, she was custodian at the Pella First Christian Reformed Church for 7 ½ years.

The daughter of Onna and Dena Klein Witzenburg, she was born Oct. 3, 1904 in Marion County.

She was married to Yella Z. Menninga Feb. 7, 1924 in Otley. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 15 May 1991.
