Wilbur Ray Hackney
Wilbur Ray Hackney, 89, of Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton, died of heart failure, Thursday, Aug. 7, at Des Moines General Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. At Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Dale Dorrell, chaplain of Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, officiating. Burial will be at Center Friends Cemetery in rural Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 pm. Monday. Visitation with the family wil be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday until the time of services.
Memorials to the Wittemberg Church or Kellogg Historical Society will be accepted.
The son of Henry and Lilla Hempey Hackney, he was born Jan. 9, 1908, in rural Newton.
A lifelong resident of Jasper County, he worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Wittemberg Church.
Survivors include a brother, Archie of Newton and Four sisters, Mildred Hennon of Newton, Imogene Barker of Ankeny, Eula Baugher of Ankeny and Lois Owens of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two broteher and a sister. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 8 Aug 1997.
