Services Held Saturday for Bertha Weston

Mrs. Donald E. (Bertha H.) Weston, 75, of Rt. 1, Mingo, a resident of the Mingo and Ira Communities for 54 years, died Wednesday, February 20, at the Skiff memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Jim Pemble of Colfax conducted the services. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Ira.

Survivors are her husband; a son, Richard of Mingo; a grandson, Craig Weston of Newton; two granddaughters, Kathy Weston of Fresno, Calif., and Janine Kessler of Grimes; two great-grand-children, Kimberly and Ryan Kessler of Grimes; and two nieces, Mrs. Frances Llewlyn of Indianola and Mrs. Lowell Larson of Austin, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Weston was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ira garden Club, Sunshine Club and the CWS.

She had been a teacher in rural Ira schools.

The daughter of James and Anna Cox, she was born April 28, 1904 in Sandyville and attended Indianola Schools.

She was married Feb. 12, 1927 in Nebraska City, Neb. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Feb 1980
