Nadine M. Shields, 87, of Park Centre in Newton, died of heart failure, Monday, Aug. 11, at her home.

The body was cremated. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Newton Union Cemetrey with the Rev. William Calhoun of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund of Park Centre will be accepted.

Reese Funeral Home in newton is handling arrangements.

The daughter of Charles and Abigail Lynn Plummer, she was born Sept. 10, 1899, in Colfax. She attended Colfax schools.

She married Earl L. Shields June 24, 1920, in Winterset.

A resident of Newton until 1978, she moved to Des Moines, then returned to Newton in 1992.

She worked as a homemaker and was a member of he First Presbyterian Church in Newton.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Nancy of Newton and Carlton and Mary Lou of Beaverton, Ore.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Cumming of Newton; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandsons; a sister; and three brothers. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa
