Funeral services for Kassie Lea Stier, 18, of Rt. 2 Box 466, Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held following vigil services, until 8:30 p.m.

She was found dead Saturday in an area of Careage of Newton.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Survivors are her mother, Jo Anne Stier of Newton; her father, Ervin Stier of Newton; four brothers, Leonard Stier of Grinnell, Irvin Stier Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Mike Stier and C. N. Stier, both of Newton; five sisters, Paula Jo Mick, Theresa Williams, Barb Shepard, Debbie Dickerson and Tammy Stier, all of Newton; and 16 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Berry, a sister, Katherine Berry, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Miss Stier, a student, was a member of the Sacred heart Catholic Church and was an altar server.

The daughter of Ervin Leo and Jo Anne Mallory Stier, she was born Feb. 26, 1974 in Iowa City, attended Newton Community High School and Des Moines Area Community College Basic and Beyond. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 9 Mar 1992
