GRINNELL – Clara Reavis Davenport Jones, 90, of Grinnell a former Newton resident, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grinnell Congregational United Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Memorials to the Grinnell Congregational United Church of Christ may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Ray Davenport of Galena, Ill., three step-sons, Ernie Jones of Newton, Kenny Jones of Grinnell and Alfred Jones of the Quad Cities area; 22 grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Pierce of Grinnell; and a brother, Milo Reavis of Montello, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husband, four sisters, a brother and a step-son.

The daughter of Elisha and Minnie Morgan Reavis, she was born June 13, 1900 in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools.

She was married to Frederick Emerson Davenport Aug. 5, 1919 in Newton and resided in Newton and Grinnell until the death of her husband in 1948.

She was married to Ernest B. Jones in September, 1949.
