Lola M. Brassfield

Lola Marie Mc Dougal Brassfield, 75, of 700 E. 10th St. N., a resident of Newton since 1947, died Sunday morning, March 31, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence funeral Home. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Lindsey; a son, Olan of Newton; a grandson; four step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ora Yingling of Bethany, Mo., and Velma Reeves of Mercer, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister and a grandson.

Mrs. Brassfield, a member of the Navy Mothers and Women of the Moose, had been a homemaker and had worked as a waitress at Kingma Café and Mason’s Café.

The daughter of John Andrew and Arminta Emaline Mc Daniel Mc Dougal, she was born Nov. 1, 1915 on a farm in Mercer County, Mo., and attended and was graduated from mercer County Schools.

She was married to Lindsey Lee Oland Brassfield July 10, 1933 in Princeton, Mo.

Mrs. Brassfield had lived on farms near Mercer, Mo., and Lineville prior to moving to Newton in 1947. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 1 Apr 1991.
