Kenneth L. Hills

Kenneth L. Hills, 63, of 604 E. 14th St. S., a resident of Newton for more than 40 years, died Sunday morning, Feb. 10, at the Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.

Cremation followed death.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.

Dr. Douglas Oelke, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Memorials to the First Baptist Church may be left at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home or at the church.

Survivors are his wife, Helen B.; a son, William Warner of Newton; a daughter, Janie M. Hills of Newton; and a sister, JoAnn King of Newton.

Mr. Hills was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, the former Jean Kono, a son, Kenny Gene, and a daughter, Connie Sue.

Mr. Hills had been employed by the Maytag Co. for 40 years prior to his retirement three years ago.

Mr. Hills, a member of the First Baptist Church, Newton Veterans of Foreign wars Post 1655, Moose Lodge and united Auto Workers, Local 997, retirees Union, was a veteran of World war II and had served in the Army in Japan.

The son of John L. and Minnie Wilhemina Fichtner Hills, he was born Feb. 6, 1928 in Garden City and was graduated from Cambridge High School.

He was married to Helen B. Osborn Feb. 6, 1957 at the Newton First Baptist Church. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 11 Feb 1991.
