Henry C. Wickett, 92, of 1405 W. 2nd St. N., a resident of Newton since 1942, died Thursday afternoon, March 14, at the Newton Health Care Center following a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Paul Wilcox, pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in New Virginia Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are five sons, Robert, David and Kermit, all of Newton, Lloyd of New Virginia and Henry Jr. of Westminster, Colo.; three daughters, Geraldine Brown of Newton, Mildred Lyon of Des Moines and Evelyn (Mrs. Robert) Hubler of Aurora, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Garrison of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys, Nov. 2, 1985, an infant son, a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.

Mr. Wickett worked in the machining department at the Maytag Co. until retiring July 1, 1964.

He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, the Izaak Walton League and the United Auto Workers Local 997, Retirees Union.

The son of Frank B. and Ida Halden Wickett, he was born Jan. 21, 1899 in New Virginia.

He was married to Gladys Toole Feb. 11, 1922 in Newton.

He had resided in the New Virginia community until moving to Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 15 Mar 1991.
