Cynthia G. Bonawitz

Cynthia Gabrella Kline Bonawitz, 92, a resident of the Newton Health Care Center for the past four years and a former resident of Suncrest village, 1800 S. 4th Ave. E., died Thursday, March 14, at Skiff Medical Center.

Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Reese Funeral Home.

Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are three sons, Elbert of Colfax, John of Mankato, Minn., and Gene of Newton; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles C., in 1952, two sisters and two brothers in infancy.

Mrs. Bonawitz was employed at the Ordnance Plant at Ankeny, the Maytag Co., and was a practical nurse at Wesley Acres in Des Moines.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign wars Auxiliary, Pythian Sisters and navy Mothers Club.

The daughter of Daniel and Hannah Jane Gillett Kline, she was born Nov. 11, 1898 on a farm near Baxter.

She attended Baxter schools.

She was married to Charles D. Bonawitz Oct. 7, 1916 in Marshalltown.

Mrs. Bonawitz had resided in Newton since moving from Des Moines in 1946. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 15 Mar 1991.
