Sadie Irene Albright, 94, passed away Friday evening, June 6, 2014, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella. She was a long-time resident of Sully and for the past few years had been a resident of Newton Village Assisted Living.

Sadie, the daughter of Corneles and Goverdena (Klyn) De Jong, was born November 14, 1919, near Prairie City. She attended rural schools in Jasper and Marion Counties and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1937.

On August 31, 1940, Sadie was united in marriage with Andrew Albright at the home of her parents south of Pella. To this union three children were born: Morris, Karen, and Dale.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew on June 2, 1969, daughter-in-law Nancy, granddaughter Andrea, brother Nick De Jong, and sister Dorothy Bokhoven.

Sadie is survived by her three children: Morris (Joann) Albright of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Karen (Paul) Hackert of Sully, Dale Albright of Williamsburg; grandchildren: Trisha Criswell of Winterset, Brian Albright of San Diego, California, Jeff Albright, Chandra Clark of Pella, Amy Albright of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mark Albright of Cedar Rapids, Brett Albright of Moline, Illinois, Shawna Weis of West Des Moines, and Ryan Albright of Williamsburg; twelve great-grandchildren; and her brother and his wife, Ernest and Jeanne De Jong of Pella.

Sadie loved spending time with family and friends, tending her flower beds, and crocheting, especially afghans for the needy. After her husband's death, she used her gift as a seamstress and sewed many prom and bridesmaid dresses. Her faith in Jesus Christ never wavered, and she faithfully spent time praying and reading her Bible every day.

Sadie was active in the Sully Senior Citizen organization for many years, serving as president and secretary. She served as a volunteer Sully librarian from 1978 to 1990. She also directed the Sully Kitchen Band, known as the "Silver Jubilares," entertaining at several nursing homes, church functions, and other community activities. ~ The Garden Chapel, Pella, Iowa June 2014.
