Funeral services for Archie Carson Jr., 67, of Rt. 3, Newton, a lifelong resident of rural Newton, were held today, May 10, at the Community Heights Alliance Church.

The Rev. Larry Spader conducted services. Burial was in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday afternoon at the Reese Funeral Home.

Memorials to the Community Heights Alliance Church or the Palo Alto Cemetery Association will be accepted.

He died Friday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist Center in Des Moines of renal failure.

Survivors are his wife, Joan; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Vickie of Rt. 3, Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Forrest Grabau of Boone; two grandsons; and a brother, George, of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ronald.

Mr. Carson resided and farmed all of his life on the farm on which he was born.

He was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church, Jasper County Farm Bureau and Palo Alto Grange.

The son of Archie and Winifred Wolf Carson, he was born Jun 11, 1925 on the family farm and was a 1944 graduate of Newton Community High School.

He was married to Joan Nichols Sept. 5, 1952 in Knoxville. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 10 May 1993.
