Mary Vant Sant

PRAIRIE CITY – Mary Jabaai Vant Sant, 88, a resident of Clearview Manor in Prairie City since 1988, died Tuesday, March 12, at the manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

The Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at the Monroe Garden Chapel all day Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the World Home Bible League will be accepted.

Survivors are her daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Donald E.) Van Vark of Monroe; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Bess (Mrs. Leo) Van Dusseldorp of Prairie City; and a brother, Dave Jabaai of Prairie City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Douwe, April 26, 1979, four brothers, Ari, Mel, Marion and Clarence, and a sister, Nettie Zachary.

Mrs. Vant Sant was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella and the Helping Hand Society.

The daughter of Leonard and Tillie De Jong Jabaai, she was born Aug. 17, 1902 in Ollivet and attended Prairie Creek School, south of Prairie City.

She was married to Douwe Vant Sant Jan. 18, 1935 and the couple resided on a farm northeast of Monroe for 40 years.

She moved to Pella in 1975 and to Hilltop North in Pella in 1987. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 14 Mar 1991.
