Ben Van Der Molen

PELLA – Ben Van Der Molen, 74, of Pella, a former Jasper County area resident, died Sunday, March 3, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials to Hospice of Pella or the Pella Christian High School may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Christine; six children, Marty J. of Sully, Viola M. (Mrs. Larry) Engbers of Pella, Judy J. (Mrs. Arvin) Kelderman of Pella, Rita D. (Mrs. Donald) Van Maanen of Pella; Byron C. of Sully and Christy L. (Mrs. James) Van Zee of Pella; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Jacob and Louis Van Der Molen, both of Pella, and three sisters, Anna (Mrs. Ralph) Corbin of Buena Park, Calif., Rachael (Mrs. Cornie) Vander Hart of Henderson, Neb., and Martina (Mrs. Ray) De Groot of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Tillie Ozinga Van Der Molen, a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Case) Boerefyn and two brothers, Cecil and William Van Der Molen.

He was born Sept. 27, 1916 at Peoria and was married to Christine Struik Jan. 18, 1940 in Sully.

Mr. Van Der Molen farmed west of Peoria and in 1971 moved to Pella where he was employed as a trucker of livestock.

He was a member of the Protestant Reformed Church in Pella. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 5 Mar 1991.
