Michael B. Donahue, 76, of Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service was held on Monday at Foursquare Church in Newton, with burial following at Dunreath Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Foursquare Church in Newton and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Royal James and Bernice (Adams) Donahue, Mike was born on Dec. 15, 1936, in Newton. Mike was a heavy equipment operator for Pella Corp and Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella before his retirement. He was a member of the Foursquare Church in Newton and the Izaak Walton league. He enjoyed cars, trucks, Reasnor Softball, anything John Deere and was an avid collector. He also enjoyed card games and traveling in his later years.
Those left to honor his memory include his two brothers, Walt Donahue of Cedar Falls and Pat (Marilyn) Donahue of Park Rapids, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Lois Donahue of Monroe; many cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses; and his many friends at Progress Industries, especially his house mates and the staff. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Conrad; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Donahue.
