Ardelle Nearmyer

Funeral services for Mrs. Donald (Ardelle) Nearmyer, 64, a lifelong resident of the Monroe and Prairie City area were held Saturday, May 26, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. She died Wednesday, May 23, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Dr. Otto Steele, Jr., pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Silent Cemetery at Monroe. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe handled arrangements.

Survivors are a son, Carroll of Prairie City, three grandchildren; a brother, Robert Stine of Monroe, and three sisters, Lulu Oliver of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Frances Smith and Ruth Cochrane, both of Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mrs. Nearmyer was a member of the Rebeka Lodge and was a past noble grand of the lodge.

She had been a Monroe Community School bus driver for 14 years.

The daughter of Ellsworth and Flossie Wilson Stine, she was born January 1920 in Jasper County and was a 1940 graduate of Monroe Community High School.

She was married to Donald Nearmyer March 24, 1940 in Fort Des Moines.
