Those left to honor Jason's memory are his wife of 68+ years, Ruby of Newton son, Tim (Wanda) Blount of Newton; his sister, Julia Harlan of Newton and several nieces and nephews. His parents, brother, Wilbur Lee Blount in infancy and brother-in-law, Ellis Harlan preceded him in death.

Jason served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II.

Jason was a graduate of Mitchellville High School in Mitchellville, Iowa with the Class of 1934; he also graduated from the Chillicothe Business College.

Jason was the credit manager for the Denniston & Partridge Lumber Company in Newton. Jason was a member of the First United Methodist Church; he was a member and Past President Newton Noon Kiwanis and Past Lt. Governor of Kiwanis; Newton City Council, and Past Chairman of the Newton Zoning Board of Adjustment. He enjoyed traveling, he had been on every continent except Antarctica; he also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading and talking with his friends.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church or to the Jasper County Historical Society may be left the church on the day of the service or at the funeral home.
