Richard Louis “Rick” Axtell, 42, of Lincoln, Neb., a former resident of Newton, died Friday, May 10, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christ community Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Omaha, Neb.

Survivors are his wife, Renee; his parents, Charles L. and Fern Atwood Axtell of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Douglas of Lincoln, Neb.; his grandmother, Josie Atwood of Nelson Manor in Newton; and his uncles and aunts, Harry and Maxine Atwood and Shirley and George Osborne, all of Newton.

He was born May 7, 1949 in Newton where he attended Emerson Hough Elementary School. He moved to Omaha, Neb. at the age of 14.

He resided in California and Minneapolis, Minn., as well as Omaha, Neb., before moving recently to Lincoln. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 13 May 1991.
