William Hilligas

PRAIRIE CITY – William Hilligas, 77, a longtime resident of Prairie City, died Sunday, April 7, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held t 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call after Tuesday noon at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Doris; a son, Bob of Knoxville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Myers of Newton.

Mr. Hilligas was preceded in death by his parents, six brother, two sisters and a great-grand-daughter in infancy.

Mr. Hilligas, a farmer and carpenter, also had resided in the Grinnell and Malcolm

The son of Frank W. and Mary E. Force Hilligas, he was born May 18, 1913 in Westphalia, Kan.

He was married to Doris Thompson May 18, 1933 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 8 Apr 1991.
