Conduct Rites For Lee Brown This Afternoon

Final rites for Lee Brown, 68, were conducted this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the First Congregational Church by Dr. J. Irvine Walker, pastor. Interment was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Local groups attending the services in a body were the Rotary Club, the Elks Club and the Jasper County Savings Bank employees.

The bank closed this afternoon at one o’clock for the reminder of the day.

Mr. Brown died Friday night at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Ferguson of Watsonville, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles Brown of Hollywood, Calif.; two grandchildren, Charles and Mary Lee Brown of Hollywood, and a brother, B. Funeral Services Held Wednesday From First Congregational Church

Funeral services for Lee Brown, 68, were observed Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the First Congregational Church with Dr. J. Irvine walker, pastor, in charge. Interment was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Music for the services was furnished by Richard Toedt, who sang two hymns, "Does Jesus Care?" and "Crossing the Bar." Miss Vera Trevits presided at the organ.

Newton men acting as pallbearers included A. E. Hindorff, Frank M. Woodrow, V. H. Morgan, D. Wormhoudt, L. S. Kennington and James R. Rhodes.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. William Ferguson of Watsonville, Calif.; B. W. Brown of David City, Nebr.; R. C. McGregor of Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Will McGregor of Brooklyn; Charles Ferguson of Victor and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Clos and son of Des Moines.

Several local organizations attended the rites in a body the group including the Rotary Club, the Elks club and employees of the Jasper County Savings Bank. The bank was closed at one o’clock in the afternoon for the remainder of the day.
