Baxter Area Resident Died May 29

Mrs. Fred C. (Minnie Alvina) Eilert, 87, of R. 1, Baxter, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died May 29, at the Skiff Memorial hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Toland-Wallace funeral Home.

The Rev. Richard Welch, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, conducted the services. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Bennie (Ruby) Barnes of Baxter and Mrs. Rex (Ruth) Bryant of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Forrest Fisher of Baxter.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1937, three brothers, Fred, Bill and Oliver Rethmeier; and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Lillian) Miller.

Mrs. Eilert was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ.

The daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina Henning Rethmeier, she was born June 30, 1886 in Jasper County.

She was married March 12, 1913 at the Zoar Church, Newton. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 13 June 1974.
