Father of Mrs. Len Hogendorn Dies

Sidney Wesley Harper was born in Green County, Indiana, September 27, 1858, and passed away December 4, 1931, at St. Lukes Hospital, Wellington, Kansas, at 2:15 p.m., at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

In 1881 he was united in marriage to Cora J. Wyatt. To this union eleven children were born. Three preceded him in death, Mrs. Ida Bradley, Addie and Frank. He leaves to mourn his loss a devoted wife, and eight children, Mrs. Len Hogendorn of Colfax; Walter Harper, Arkansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Nellie Hoover, Oxford, Kan.; Mrs. Myrtle Cline, Altoona, Ia.; William Harper, Oxford, Kan.; Rolland Harper, Blockton, Ia.; Ivan Harper, Sheridan, Mo.; Mrs. Iva Graham, Bend, Oregon,; A brother Jake Harper of Colfax; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hard of Newton and Mrs. Celia Griffis, of California, and twenty seven grandchildren and one great grandson and a host of friends.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and a great lover of his home and a good neighbor well liked by all who knew him.

He was a great sufferer for 2 years with cancer, which was the immediate cause of his death.

Burial was at the Mitchellville Cemetery.

Dearest Father, thou hath left us, and our grief we deeply feel. It is God who hath brieth us. He will all our sorrow heal.

Mr. Harper lived in Colfax a number of years ago, living in Washington Center neighborhood.

We wish to acknowledge with sincere thanks the kind expression of sympathy, kindly assistance rendered us during our sad bereavement.
