Former Resident, Maude Snyder, Died January 13

Mrs. Harry O. (Maude M.) Snyder, 87, a resident of Newton since 1947, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Embassy Manor.

Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Reese Chapel in Newton.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational UCC of Newton, conducted services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Survivors are two sons and two daughters, twins, James of Orlando, la., and Mrs. James (Joanne) Austad of Newton, Jack Snyder of Webster City and Mrs. Dick R. (Margie) of Pfar, Tex.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Reynolds of Davis City; and a sister, Mrs. Donald (Ona) Kentner of Leon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter and seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Snyder, a member of the Rural Mail Carries Auxiliary for many years, had been a cook in the Baxter School System and more recently in the meat department of Stockton’s Super Valu in Newton.

She was born Sept. 20, 1897 in her parents’ home in Highpoint Township in Decatur County.

She was married June 29, 1920 in Decatur County.

She resided in Baxter from 1938 until 1947. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 17 Jan 1985.
