“Nancy” Tobias Services Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred (Mary “Nancy”) Tobias, 83, a resident of Colfax since 1909, were held Monday Oct. 21, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Robert C. Cook pastor of the Colfax Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Blodwyn) Ritter of Prairie City, Mrs. John (Marjorie) Maher of Norwalk, Calif., Mrs. Harold (Mary Margaret) Hickman of Orange, Calif., and Mrs. Lester (Doris) Thompson of Monroe; a grandson, John T. Ritter of Cave Creek, Ariz.; two brothers, William Hale, of Vancouver, Wash.; and Ivor Hale of Vancouver, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. John (Ruby) Plummer of Wacolt, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956.

Mrs. Tobias was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Colfax.

The daughter of Joseph and Sarah Wilding Hale, she was born May 3, 1891 at Nanty Glo, South Wales and was educated in South Wales schools. She attended Drake University in Des Moines.

She was married in November, 1911, in Newton.

Mrs. Tobias died Thursday at the Embassy Manor in Newton.
